I am a Singaporean residing in China. This Chinese New Year, I drove near to 6000km from China via Laos, Thailand and Malaysia to Singapore. I am probably the first Singaporean to do this. When I requested LTA to make an exception for a Singaporean to drive a foreign car, they denied it. According to them, Singapore law does not provide for concessions to Singaporeans driving foreign-registered vehicles other than Malaysia-registered ones.
Isn’t it funny that after driving 5,500km, I cannot drive the last 20km back home.
And this is going to be the tip of an iceberg when more and more people will use the roads from Singapore to China, trucks and tour buses, businesses and for leisure, are our Governments prepared for it, or still sleeping on the job?
